Lynton

Scale/Gauge: OO9
Size: 4.3m by 1.85m
Theme: 1930s Lynton and Barnstaple Railway
Show Location: Gym

Lynton is this year’s featured club layout being exhibited by our OO9 Group and is based on the station of Lynton and Lynmouth on the Lynton and Barnstable Railway. The layout was gifted to the BNHMRS by the family of the late John Cannons, better known to many for his models of Spanish and Portuguese Railways.

The track has been changed to reflect the station as it was in circa 1935 using reference photos and the track plan produced in the book Lynton and Barnstable Drawn and Measured. Control can be either DCC or DC with the layout wired for both.

Buildings on the layout are a mixture of the original owner’s with some having been upgraded with additional detail, along with new buildings within the small village scene. A number of detailing parts have been produced using drawings to produce CAD models and then 3D printed to enhance the overall appearance of the station.

Whilst built as a model of the Lynton and Barnstable the layout can be run in any time period as members have a range of stock covering the Lynton and Barnstable, the Ffestiniog Railway and generic OO9 stock.
